Exciting News for Sydney! Transport for NSW’s M6 Stage 1 motorway is on the horizon, with design and construction work well underway, led by CIMIC Group Limited’s CPB Contractors and UGL, in a joint venture with Ghella (CGU). This $3.1 billion (AUD) project aims to bridge the gap, connecting the city’s south to the larger motorway network.
What’s in store for Sydney? Two 4-kilometer tunnels, pathways for pedestrians and bicyclists, and a more accessible city! The M6 Stage 1 is set to reduce congestion, improve travel time, and divert over 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads. Anticipated to open in late 2025, it’s a game-changer for the community.
Behind the scenes, the project is prioritizing safety and environmental protection. Tetra Tech Coffey, a global consulting and engineering leader, was chosen to implement an advanced underground monitoring system. Tetra Tech Coffey selected Bentley’s Vista Data Vision, a locally-hosted software with robust capabilities in data storage, analysis, reporting, and visualization. This technology ensures the secure capture, analysis, and sharing of real-time sensor measurements, enhancing safety and accountability.
